The latest spate of violence in Karachi started on Friday when as many as 13 people were killed and dozens were injured during an arm clash between supporters of two parties, in different parts of Malir district, and it still remained in violence when those two parties forced shutter down in area by Sunday 24th July.

However, Rangers and police continue to hold their positions in sensitive areas to avoid any untoward incident.
Around 20 people were killed and 20 others got injured. According to police, one man was shot dead in Quaidabad and one in Moch Goth. Four people were killed near the Anda Mor and UP Mor in New Karachi and one in Ghas Mandi Lyari. One person was killed and another got injured in firing on a mosque, in Surjani Town, Firing and gun shots continued in Malir, Baldia and Millat Town by Sunday (24th July).

Four people were injured in crossfire. Armed groups clashed at Bakra Peeri in Malir sending wave of panic and subsequent closure of businesses.

Sindh Home Department has imposed an indefinite ban on pillion riding in the city.

IG Sindh, Wajid Durrani has claimed that seventeen target killers were arrested from Karachi during last week.
Speaking at a gathering, Durrani said the situation in Karachi was under control and army intervention was not required. He said extremists were using names of political parties and disrupting peace in the city.

Responding to a question about the Taliban presence in Katti Pahari, Durrani claimed that land grabbers were the real cause of the problem. “These land grabbers are targeting the Urdu- and Pashto-speaking populations. They want to ignite a fire that will lead to war,” he said. “The police have identified these men and they will not be spared.”
The IG said operational power of the police will increase when grants and increments worth a total of Rs5 billion will be given to the force.

It is reported that five people were also killed continually on fourth day in different areas of Karachi and death series has reached now to over 50.

A tortured body was found in Garden area of Karachi. An unidentified person shot a citizen in North Nazimabad. Another person was killed while three were injured during a clash in Landhi area. A man was killed in target killing incident in Ibrahim Haideri area of Korangi Creek.

More Over on 27th July Seven more people were killed in various areas i.e. Sachal, Gulistan colony, Three people in Chawla market in Nazimabad & Garden area and 2 people in PIB Colony.

Search Operation in Karachi.

(On 25th July) A door-to-door search operation has been begun by Police and Ranger at death suspected areas of Karachi after a number of killing people including Malir. Police officials said that a number of people had been detained and arms were also recovered from the area.

Moreover, force officials added that we have surely identified the people and at least 200 police commandos will be deployed to search and arrest insurgents.

(27th July) IG Sindh Wajid Ali Durrani said at least 90 suspects are arrested in connection with target killings in Karachi

Over 2500 elite force commandos participated in the operation that lasted for two hours.

President Meeting for Karachi Solution.

President, Asif Ali Zardari chaired a core meeting to control situation in Karachi and shared with party leaders for peaceful steps at Bilawal House in Karachi and the meeting in this connection was attended by Chief Minister of Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah, Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, Home Minister, Manzoor Ali Wasan and the head of law-enforcement agencies.
