The British Council Karachi library is pleased to host an exclusive evening with author Safinah Danish Elahi upon the publication of her highly anticipated new novel, The Idle Stance of the Tippler Pigeon.
The author will be in conversation with renowned journalist and host, Sidra Iqbal, as they delve into Safinah’s creative process, the inspiration behind her novel, and the intricacies of leading a reputable publication company within the Pakistani literary landscape.
Safinah Danish Elahi is an acclaimed author, lawyer and poet, who has captivated readers with her previous works, and The Idle Stance of the Tippler Pigeon promises to be yet another literary gem. Set in a backdrop of intricately woven narratives, this novel portrays the journey of a Pakistani family as they navigate the aftermath of a tragedy. With a profound love for Pakistan, this narrative exquisitely explores themes of loss, family dynamics, and the enduring power of friendship.

About the Author:
Safinah Danish Elahi is a lawyer, poet and novelist from Pakistan. Her poetry collection ‘The Unbridled Romance of Romance of Love and Pain’ was labelled epiphanic by the nation’s leading newspaper Dawn. Her debut novel, Eye on the Prize, published in 2020, translated into Urdu has been converted into a TV series called Daurr. She is also the founder of an award-winning publishing house, Reverie Publishers. She is a scholar at the International Writer’s Program with the University of Iowa Fall Residency 2022. The Idle Stance of the Tippler Pigeon is her second novel.

Sidra Iqbal is a celebrated broadcast journalist, media communication expert, and policy influencer from Pakistan. Sidra presently hosts a signature daily news morning show, “Aaj Pakistan with Sidra Iqbal” on one of Pakistan’s leading news channels – Aaj News. She is the first Pakistani to be invited to the esteemed International Leadership Program, a fellowship initiative of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Government of UK.
