Its sound brings back the texture of a borrowed beat up car, a stolen kiss, the salty sea breeze, a rickety tape recorder, a sunset at Seaview, the memory of a classic camera, an expensive roll of photo film – a red lipstick, a young man with a guitar, a solo moment with a cloud of velvety cigarette smoke lingering in the night air of Karachi in December – for then and now.
Strings gives the Pakistani audiences an ownership of Southasia’s contemporary legacy of pop music and the modern Urdu word.
