Synopsis of Play:
The story is a love triangle, mixed with politics. Tameezuddin and Qutbuddin are radicals who barely make a living working on their magazine, Gup Shup, which is dedicated to fighting “the system” in Pakistan. Sophie, a girl who moves into their apartment next door who is a Receptionist by profession. It’s love at first sight (or, as the play has it, first smell) for Tameezuddin, but his feelings are not reciprocated. Tameezuddin’s obsession with Sophie makes Qutbuddin hire her just to keep the magazine going. Then Sophie falls for Qutbuddin, though they are at odds politically, threatening to destroy the magazine and the men’s friendship.

After having her masters in English Literature she joined NAPA for direction. She has worked as a lighting designer for such esteemed directors. As a director, she has directed plays for the Academy and commercially as well. She has received Pakistan Media Award 2013 in Best Theatre Category.She has done certification in Lighting Design and Pre-visualization from SILV, USA and earned a ‘Seal of Qualification’ from the same Institute. She recently return from New York after did her Master Classes in Theatre Direction. Currently she is actively involved with NAPA in teaching and management capacities.

Babar began his theatre career as an actor. Soon, better sense prevailed, and he moved away from the arc lights to the “shadow” side of the theatre. He wrote the script for Sania Saeed’s play “Men Adakara Banu Gee” which was an instant hit among the theatre audience. He has done a couple of adaptations for theatre such as “Sau Din Chor Kay” (directed by Uzma Sabeen) and “Jungle Men Mangle Bazaar” (directed by Rahat Kazmi).
